I’ve always thought small talk is a little overrated. It’s fine for breaking the ice, but if I really want to connect with someone, I’d rather ask questions that lead somewhere. That’s exactly why I like How Deep Will You Go?. The game is built around thoughtful questions that slowly move from light and fun to more personal, meaningful topics.

The official deck costs around $35 from the official shop, but I wanted something easier to access. So, we created a simplified free PDF version with the same goal: helping people skip the boring small talk and get into conversations they’ll actually remember.

How To Play How Deep Will You Go PDF?

Like most question card games, How Deep Will You Go? keeps the rules simple. You can always play your own way, but the PDF includes a suggested format that helps the conversation naturally get deeper as you go.

Start with Level 1 and draw one card at a time. Everyone playing answers the question, and after completing 3 cards, you move to Level 2: Confessions. Answer another 3 cards, then continue to Level 3: Getting Deep. Once you’ve completed all three levels, finish the round with an Infinity Card.

You can repeat the cycle for as long as the conversation stays interesting. And there’s no need to force every level, if you already know each other well, skip ahead. The whole point is to match the questions to your relationship and go only as deep as feels right.

This printable version of How Deep Will You Go contains a total of 49 playing cards. There’s one question per page, and you will get notified when the level of questions changes.

The darker the color gets, the deeper the question is. Below, you’ll find a preview of how HDWYG cards look: Icebreakers, Confessions, and Getting Deep. We’ll keep the ∞ cards a surprise until you decide to download the game. It’s all free, so why hesitate?

Just to be clear, this isn’t an official How Deep Will You Go? release. It’s our own EditionCards version, made with plenty of care and inspired by the same idea of creating better conversations. The original physical game includes 90 cards, while our free PDF gives you 49 cards to play with.

You can keep things simple and play straight from the PDF, or use our printing guide to turn the cards into a physical deck. We also made the file mobile-friendly, so opening it on your phone and passing it around works perfectly well.
