Golden Girls is an American series of 7 seasons, which aired first in September 1985. The show, made by Susan Harris, it’s all about 4 women living in Miami, experiencing their golden age in all possible ways: life, relationships, work, friendships, and all the ups and downs. The series came to an end in 1992, so really, there’s nothing much you can do: rewatch the whole series, or play Cards Against Golden Girls. The second option is indeed better, since it allows you to make jokes about the characters and stories, and feel part of the plot.
In this deck of almost 220 cards, you will find everything that matters in your all-time favorite sitcom: cheesecake, the bull castration club, Rose’s misunderstandings, Big Daddy, Blanche’s ex-husbands, Butter Queen, Sophia’s homemade limoncello, and many more! Therefore, you have your chance to make your preferred combinations of cards and jokes about the funniest ladies: Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, and Sophia.
Now, if you love The Golden Girls, you’re probably over 30. No judging, you can love the show even if you’re younger. However, all you need to know, is that everyone playing must be 17 years old or older. And of course, rule number one, it can only be played by fans of the show: no one else will enjoy it the way you do.
Gameplay
- Find at least 2 or 3 players to play with. Of course, it’s best if played by 4 to 20+ players, as the official rules suggest.
- One different player is the Card Czar each round, and deals 7 white cards to everyone.
- The game judge (Card Czar) then reads one black card out loud each round.
- All other players respond with one white card that they think matches the black card best.
- After everyone submits their answers, the Card Czar picks their favorite.
- The chosen card gets one awesome point.
Winning
If you have that competitive spirit in the group, bear in mind that the game ends whenever you’re tired of playing, meaning, when you make a haiku. Whoever has the most awesome points wins Cards Against Golden Girls!
