It’s not a shame to admit that several times you’ve played Cards Against Humanity, you’ve had absolutely no idea what some of the cards meant, and just laughed, acting like you got it. Don’t worry, we went through that too.

That’s exactly why we put together this glossary: to help you and us understand these filthy, dirty, hilarious definitions they’ve put on CAH packs, and play them in the best way possible!

  • An Oedipus complex.” – Oedipus’s (or Oedipal) complex was used in the theory of psychosexual stages of development by Sigmund Freud. To put it more simply, it was used to describe a child who is unconsciously sexually attracted to their opposite-sex parent, and frustration/jealousy toward their same-sex parent (considered like a rival).
  • MechaHitler.” – It’s basically Hitler in a robotic, armored, ‘dangerous’ suit.
  • A robust mongoloid.” – Mongoloid used to be a grouping of people which included indigenous people of most parts of Asia, some parts of America, and Polynesia. However, mongoloid was also used as an alternate name for people with Down Syndrome, because of some physical features caused by the disorder that was considered to be similar to the normal features seen in Asian people. On the other hand, the word ‘robust’ stands for strong and healthy, and if you’re still questioning it, this card is offensive from whatever point of view you look at it.
  • Pixelated bukkake.” – To pixelate something means to divide it into pixels. A bukkake is the action of multiple men ejaculating on one person, which makes it a sexual activity. So, a pixelated bukkake is the action of multiple men ejaculating on one person being divided into pixels.
  • Eugenics.”Eugenics is/used to be an unscientific study on arranging the reproduction of the human population to ‘reproduce’ the strongest, fittest, best ones. Meaning that the ‘weak’ ones, the disabled, are to be ‘removed’ or not reproduced for this ‘arrangement’ to happen.
  • Seppuku.” – Seppuku is another term for hara-kiri. It is a ritual suicide that used to be practiced with a sword by samurai. Seppuku was practiced in Japan with more respect than other forms of execution.
  • Fetal alcohol syndrome.” – Fetal alcohol syndrome is caused in the child by alcohol consumption by the mother during pregnancy. It causes problems for the child, which can be irreversible.
  • Leprosy.” – Leprosy (Hansen’s disease) is a disease caused by a type of bacteria. It causes problems and damages the nerves mostly. If left untreated, it can affect your eyes causing blindness, and damage the nerves which can even result in paralysis and crippling of hands and feet.
  • Sarah Palin.” – Sarah Louise Palin is American, a politician, and above all, a TV personality. She was the ninth governor of Alaska (2006-2009). Why exactly did they mention her in the cards? I guess we’ll never know!
  • Lena Dunham.” – Lena Dunham is an actress, director, and more, mostly known for her series “Girls”, for which she received awards. She got attention through posts on social media, often ending up apologizing for them. Probably that’s why they mentioned her. 
  • Serfdom.” – It’s more like Serf-dom, like bore-dom, and such words that you add the “dom” to them. Serf means “an agricultural laborer bound uner the feudal system to work on his lord’s estate”. Serfdom is the description of being a serf. That’s it. Serf.
  • Smegma. According to Google, “Smegma is a sebaceous secretion in the folds of the skin, especially under a man’s foreskin”. It happens in male and female genitals.
  • Synergistic management solutions.” – Synergistic means working together in a way that produces a greater effect than the sum of individual efforts. Management solutions mean strategies to improve business efficiency. Together, it’s basically a satirical corporate phrase.
  • Daniel Radcliffe’s delicious asshole.” – Daniel Radcliffe is the actor that plays Harry Potter, and we bet you already know the connection that HP and Cards Against Humanity have: Cards Against Muggles. 
  • “Steve Bannon.” – Steve Bannon was the White House Chief Strategist for 7 months when Trump was president. And CAH creators love to mess with Trump’s people.
  • Swooping.” – The action of moving rapidly from a high position down through the air. They also do the ‘swooping’ to humans, which causes damage, as it is a form of attacking.
  • A sad fat dragon with no friends.” – It doesn’t have a meaning unless you can relate to a sad fat dragon with no friends. I can, though. 
  • The Chronic.” – It is the name of an album by Dr.Dre. If you need an explanation of who Dr.Dre is, get out! The Chronic is also used as a slang term for strong cannabis. Give it the meaning you want.
  • PrEP.” – “PrEP.” is found in the Pride Pack of Cards Against Humanity, and stands for pre-exposure prophylaxis. It is a pill for those who think they have a risk of being exposed to HIV to prevent getting it. But why exactly in this pack?
  • The invisible hand.” – It is a metaphor used in economics when the marketplace regulates itself. You know, like an invisible hand is regulating things that go wrong in a marketplace. Jesus Christ, the economists!
  • Stifling a giggle at the mention of Hutus and Tutsis.” / “Helplessly giggling at the mention of Hutus and Tutsis.Hutus are the Bantu-speaking people; they make up most of Rwanda and Burundi’s population. However, they were dominated by the Tutsi people, who were a minority in Rwanda, and then started dominating the Hutus. Therefore, there was a huge ethnic violence in 1994 between the Hutus and Tutsis, mostly in Rwanda.
  • Heteronormativity.” – It’s the belief that heterosexuality is the only way to go. Meaning, that norm, that way of understanding heterosexuality as the one normal/natural sexuality is called heteronormativity. 
  • Necrophilia.” – Defines the condition of someone being sexually attracted to corpses, or them having sexual intercourse with them. 
  • The Übermensch.” – It was first used by Nietzsche as a philosophical concept. It represents a demigod. 
  • The Three-Fifths compromise.” – This refers back to the time when there was an agreement at the United States Constitutional Convention about the counting of the slaves. We’re talking 1987. Long story short, 5 enslaved people counted as 3 in the state’s population.
  • Object permanence.” – Object permanence is the realization/understanding that an object exists although you can’t see/hear/sense/feel/smell it. 
  • Madeleine McCann.” – Madeleine McCann was a three-year-old British girl who disappeared in Portugal in 2007. Her condition has been unknown ever since. Lately, some young girls on TikTok have been making jokes about their appearance and story being related to Madeleine’s, joking that they might be her. I think C.A.H. went too far with this one.
  • The Trail of Tears.” – This is also known as the Indian Removal. It refers to the time (1830-1850) when the United States forced over 60,000 Native Americans to relocate.
  • The Rapture.” – Can be described in three ways: Rapture, the rock band, Rapture, the movie, or rapture, a belief of Christians, the process of people rising up in the sky to meet Jesus.
  • Chungo” – The word “Chungo” is mentioned in the Family Edition of CAH. The word Chungo is usually used for oversized things/animals.
  • j15 patriot assault box” – It’s mentioned in the Box Expansion of CAH: j15 sounds like a military code or model number (like a jet or weapon), patriot refers to something nationalistic (also a real missile system), assault suggests attack or combat, and box adds absurdity.
  • Jibber-jabber.” – It is an expression highly used by Mr T, and it’s like another word for “bla bla-ing”.However, Jibber Jabber was also a Canadian kids’ animated series!
  • Ennui.” – mentioned in the Blue Box, ennui is a lack of excitement when you have nothing to do. It is pretty much another word for boredom. 
  • A gossamer stream of jizz that catches the light as it arcs through the morning air.” – After much research, we’ve concluded: this phrase is a super-complicated way to say masturbating in the morning.

  • Jason, the teen mayor.” – Because Jason Nastke was elected as mayor of Valatie, New York in 1999, while he was only 19 years old, he became the youngest mayor Valatie has ever had. Adding the fact that he looked so young & a babyface when he became mayor, CAH creators decided to call him a teen mayor.  
  • The wonders of the Orient.” – It is a term that was used to describe exotic aspects of Asian cultures. Specifically, ‘Orient’ stood for countries like China, Japan, India, and other eastern parts of Asia. Needless to say, it’s a stereotypical, problematic, disrespectful term. 
  • Boppin’ my flopper.” – Based on what Urban Dictionary has taught us, this term is another word for self-sexual stimulation, mostly referring to males. 
  • Me jubbly bubblies.” – Jubbly is a playful or euphemistic way to refer to breasts. Bubbles means carbonated beverages, including alcoholic ones, especially champagne. Now, the person who made this card probably loves both female breasts & champagne.
  • Pigglewink”- A piggle could be another word for digging, but also an animal that is related to pigs, a third cousin, maybe. We all know what a wink is. Winking your eye. Now, just put it all together!
  • Da Clurb” – Based on some explanations, Da Clurb’s meaning is consuming fish on top of 5 women. However, we like to believe that they were referring to the ‘Da Clurb’ of TikTok, which basically means that we’re all part of a club.
  • “Muchin’ Puss” – It’s a card in the Green Box, and it’s just another phrase for saying eating pussy. 
  • Kneevis” – It’s available only in Picture Pack 1. Now, the picture shows the knee and the face of a man, probably because the skin on our knee looks… weird, like a face. Well, his name could be Elvis, Evis, Vis, or whatever.
  • Getting Pegged” – It’s the process of penetrative sex. Specifically, it’s an anal sex act in which a woman penetrates a man’s anus with a strap-on dildo. Careful using this one. 
  • Huit.”- It’s just ‘eight’ in French.
  • Red Card With Numbers – Where the number 3 is placed, it is meant to be the letter C, right? 1 has taken the place of F, 4 has taken the place of K, and lastly, 2 has taken the place of U. Let’s put it all together in order: 1234 writes F*CK!
  • “Cybering with Dieselman89” – Now, cybering refers to the expression of sexual content online, and Dieselman89 is just a username on social media. Hope he isn’t offended.
  • “BNP” – Although it isn’t clear why they really mentioned it, BNP stands for Brain Natriuretic Peptide, which is a protein hormone produced by the heart, usually under increased stress.
  • “Auswhitchz” – It was Nazi Germany’s largest concentration and extermination camp. CAH creators like making dark jokes once in a while.
  • “Bees?” – It’s just bees. No hidden meaning. Bees.
  • Making her bajinkles bajoink.” – This card is found in the Hot Box, and doesn’t have an explainable meaning. It sounds dirty, though; it’s up to you how you want to interpret it. 
  • “Slappy spatchy” – It’s a phrase used in the Family Edition, which refers to a new game, possibly something with spatulas. 
  • “Dick fingers” – Well, probably refers to people that have fat fingers, that might look like… you know what?

  • “Bound gangbang” Bound stands for bondage, meaning when a person is physically restrained, usually because of BDSM play. Gangbang means a scenario where one person has sexual intercourse with several others.
  • Bimpy, the small styrofoam ball we all jack off to.” – Found in the Absurd Box, this card is absurd. Yep, that’s all about it. 

Final Thoughts

From now on, you don’t need to have that confused face whenever you run into one of these cards. At the end of the day, Cards Against Humanity is designed to make you laugh, and you can’t really achieve that if you don’t get the meanings of the cards. Now that you know, not only do you understand everything, but you’ll be the one explaining to the group as well – and making them laugh!
